Sri Lanka Shuts Down All Schools Amid Flood & Landslide Disaster Crisis

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Education has announced that all schools across the island will remain closed until further notice, citing the severe disaster situation affecting the country.

Deputy Minister of Education Madhura Senaviratne stated that decisions regarding reopening will be taken after assessing the situation in the coming days.

Meanwhile, universities and higher education institutions will remain closed until the 8th of this month, with reopening dates to be announced later.

The Deputy Minister also confirmed that the Advanced Level examination schedule will be reviewed, ensuring equal opportunities for all students.

He reassured that question papers and answer scripts are securely stored at designated centers.

This move aims to prioritize student safety and provide adequate time for recovery in disaster-affected areas.
