Sri Lanka’s Drug War: 2,554kg of ICE and 4 Mn Pills Seized

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s relentless war on narcotics continues to deliver staggering results. Police Media Spokesperson ASP F.U. Wootler revealed that from January 1, 2025, to November 11, authorities have seized:

1,493 kg of heroin
15,500 kg of cannabis
32.6 kg of cocaine
604 kg of hashish
2,554 kg of ICE (crystal meth)
4 million narcotic pills

Following the launch of the “Ratama Ekata” national campaign on October 31, the crackdown intensified, leading to additional seizures of:

108 kg of heroin
268 kg of ICE
388 kg of cannabis
4 kg of Kush
23 kg of hashish
4,400 narcotic pills

Police have arrested 13,490 suspects, with 290 detained for further interrogation, and nine investigations underway to trace illegal assets linked to drug trafficking.

ASP Wootler urged families to take proactive steps:
