COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have uncovered a Jeep registered with forged documents during a special operation conducted by the Central Crimes Investigation Bureau in the Pannala–Alabadagama area.

The vehicle, suspected to have been illegally imported and registered using counterfeit paperwork, was taken into custody and handed over to the Pannala Police Station for further action.

Investigators have recorded statements from the current owner of the Jeep, who reportedly purchased the vehicle from an individual in Matale. Preliminary findings suggest that the fraudulent registration may have been carried out nearly 10 years ago.

Police confirmed that inquiries are ongoing to trace the chain of ownership and identify those responsible for the original illegal registration.
