COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo High Court has scheduled its ruling for August 7 on the bail application filed by Sudath Janaka Fernando, the owner of a pharmaceutical company currently remanded in connection with the distribution of substandard immunization vaccines within Sri Lanka’s hospital system.
The case was heard today (4) before High Court Judge Indrika Kalingawansa, who announced that the decision on the bail request would be delivered on August 7. The ruling had initially been expected today.
Sudath Janaka Fernando has been named as the primary suspect in the case filed over the distribution of substandard immunization vaccines within Sri Lanka’s hospital system.
According to court submissions, Fernando has been in remand custody for nearly 18 months, following a previous decision by the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court to reject his bail request.
He has now petitioned the High Court to overturn that order seeking release on bail.
