Five-year-old found dead with lacerations in Mulleriyawa

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan authorities have recovered the body of a five-year-old boy who had died under suspicious circumstances, from opposite a construction site in Halbarawa, Mulleriyawa.

Sri Lanka Police said that a call was received via the Police Emergency Hotline on Thursday (8) evening, and a team was rushed to the location where officers found the body of the child.

Police said the child was aged 5-years and six-months and was found bleeding with lacerations. 

Sri Lanka Police said that the parents of the child were separated, and the mother had left for work on Thursday (8) afternoon.

It is reported that the boy had died while under the care of his grandparents.

The Magistrate's Examination, and the Coroners Site Examination were conducted on Thursday (8), and Sri Lanka Police said the body was moved to the Mulleriyawa Hospital for the postmortem examination.
