COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Examinations says that arrangements have been made to deal with emergency disasters.

Commissioner General of Examinations Amit Jayasundara says that floods were reported in several places yesterday. 

However, the Commissioner General of Examinations says that the Disaster Management Center together with other teams, were able to bring the candidates to the examination centers using boats.

He says he expects the situation to subside by Monday.

Meanwhile, the Irrigation Department says that a minor flood situation was reported in the vicinity of the Bulathsinghala Divisional Secretariat near the Kudaa River.

The people living in the low-lying areas around the Maguru River should also be careful.

The Irrigation Department also says that due to the prevailing heavy rains, the water level of Gin River is rising further.

Residents of Baddegama are advised to be vigilant in this regard.

The Irrigation Department informs that people in low-lying areas should be aware of the rise in the water level of the Nilwala River.

Meanwhile, the early warning of landslides issued for several divisional secretariats in the Matara, Ratnapura, Galle, and Kalutara districts is still in effect.
