Colombo (News 1st) - Anti-hunting groups are ecstatic over the implementation of a new law in Scotland, the Hunting With Dogs Bill, that has outlawed the use of dogs in hunts.

“This historic news is a huge win for wildlife, locals against the hunt and of course hunt saboteurs who have spent decades bringing this hunt to their knees,” the Glasgow Hunt Sabs said on its website.

The 'Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire Hunt', one of the world's oldest fox hunts, announced that the hunt has come to an end after 252 years.

Fox hunting is viewed by many as an unnecessary and barbaric sport in which packs of hunting dogs are used to chase down a single fox, which is then killed by hunters on horseback or by the hounds themselves. The controversial sport has been in existence in the UK since the 16th century, with participants almost solely from the upper class.
