Colombo (News1st) - India beat Sri Lanka comprehensively in the third and final T20I at Rajkot on Saturday (7) to clinch the 3 match series 2-1.

After winning the toss and posting a mammoth 228/5 in their allotted 20 overs, there was little doubt that the visiting Lankans would need a small miracle to pull off the chase, especially at a packed Rajkot stadium in India.

Sri Lanka were eventually bundled out for 137 runs in 16.4 overs, after losing wickets at regular intervals. Ashdeep Singh took 3 for 20 off 2.4 overs to help his side win by a massive 91 runs.

Earlier, Ishan Kishan scored a blistering 112 off 51 balls with 9 sixes and 7 fours. Opener Shubman Gill made 46 off 36.

Kasun Rajitha was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 1 for 35 off his 4 overs. Dilshan Madushanka took 2 for 55 off his 4.

The series now shifts to the ODI format with the first of 3 games scheduled for a 1:30 pm start in Guwahati on 10 January.
