31 years later: suspect arrested over father-son murder

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Two people suspected to be involved in the murder of a father-son duo in Maharagama and Panadura areas have been arrested, 31 years after the crime was committed.

The police said that a suspect, who was arrested in connection with the two murders, was remanded for up to 14 days after being produced before the Moratuwa Magistrate's Court.

Another 55-year-old suspect identified as a resident of Molligoda, Wadduwa area was also arrested on Friday (7) in connection with the murders.

The police said that the suspect had assaulted the son with a sharp weapon during a party and had then dumped the body at a swamp near the Bolgoda river.

The father-son duo had been killed in 1991.
