President on official visit to Japan & Philippines

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe left the island on Monday (26) morning on an official visit to Japan and the Philippines. 

President Ranil Wickremesinghe is expected to meet the Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida and high-ranking officials of the Japanese government.

Wickremesinghe is also scheduled to attend the state funeral of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also attend the state funeral of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Thereafter, the President is scheduled to leave for the Philippines to preside over the meeting of the Governors of the Asian Development Bank. 

During his visit to the Philippines, Wickremesinghe will hold discussions with Philippines President Bongbong Marcos and the ADB President Masatsugu Asakawa.
