COLOMBO (News 1st) - Railway Trade Unions in Sri Lanka believe that poor track maintenance caused train derailments recently.
The Locomotive Engineers Association Chairman K. U. Konthasinghe told News 1st that if the tracks are not maintained properly, it is the commuters who be inconvenienced further.
Deputy General Manager of Sri Lanka Railways Gamini Seneviratne told News 1st that track maintenance is delayed as the Forex Crisis has severely affected the capability of sourcing raw material for the operations.
