National Bhikku Front signs petition against electricity bill increase

COLOMBO (News 1st); A petition against the recent increase in electricity rates was launched in Colombo Fort on Monday (19).

The program to sign the relevant petition was organized by the National Bhikku Front.

A large number of people gathered to sign the petition protesting the unsustainable increase in the prices of goods and cost of living.

Ven. Wakamulle Uditha Thero, General Secretary of the National Bhikkhu Front said that the electricity bill at religious places has been increased by over 550% under the administration of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Recently, the electricity bill was increased by the Ministry of Energy, leading to the subsidies being granted to religious places to be halted in the process.
