Initial meeting of 'Uththara Lanka' coalition today (18)

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The initial executive council meeting of the 'Uththara Lanka Coalition' is due to be held on Sunday (18).

Sri Lanka Communist Party Vice President and Member of Parliament Weerasumana Weerasinghe stated that it will be held today at 2 pm at the Communist Party headquarters, and future plans of the coalition will be discussed at the meeting.

The coalition also aims to meet with Ambassadors and religious leaders in the near future.

On September 5th, several independent Parliamentarians including MP Wimal Weerawansa, MP Udaya Gammanpila, MP Prof. Tissa Vitarana, MP Vasudeva Nanayakkara, MP Athuraliye rathana Thero and MP Gevindu Kumaratunge formed the coalition, dubbed "Uththara Lanka Sabhagaya".
