RMV to extend validity period of driving licenses

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Motor Traffic has decided to extend the validity period of driving licenses issued for a period of six months, to a period of one year. 

Accordingly Department of Motor Traffic mentioned that the public should visit either the district offices of the RMV or the Werahera office in Colombo in order to extend the validity period of licenses.

Upon visiting, the licenses issued for a period of 6 months will be granted an extension of up to one year.

Meanwhile, steps have been taken to issue driving license cards only to new license holders looking forward to going abroad, the department said.

The department also stated that the country will receive a stock of 450,000 license printing cards within the next few weeks in line with an order made by an Australian company.
