Spells of showers today (12)

COLOMBO (News 1st); Department of Meteorology says that a few showers will occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.

Mainly fair weather will prevail elsewhere over the island.

Strong winds of about 50 kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the Central hills, Northern and North-Central provinces, and in the Trincomalee district.

Condition of Rain:

Showers will occur at a few places in the sea area off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle.

Winds:

Winds will be south-westerly and wind speed will be (30-40) kmph. 

Wind speed may increase up to (50-60) kmph at times the sea area off the coast extending from Puttalam to   Mullaitivu via Kankasanturai and Mannar, and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.

State of Sea:

The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Mullaitivu via Kankasanturai and Mannar, and from Hambantota to Pottuvil will be rough at times. The other sea areas around the island may be moderate.
