Legal action against 75 egg traders

COLOMBO (News 1st); Legal action have been taken against 75 traders who sold eggs at higher prices.

Shanta Niriella, Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority, stated that continuous operations are being carried out to find traders who are guilty of selling eggs at high prices.

According to the Gazette notification issued recently, the maximum retail price of a white egg is Rs. 43/-.

The gazette stated that the maximum retail price of a brown egg is Rs. 45/-.
