COLOMBO (News 1st); A gazette has been issued revising water and sewage charges, by the Minister of Water Supply, Keheliya Rambukwella.

Accordingly, the monthly water and sewerage fee is shown in the monthly water bill, and if any customer wants an invoice regarding the taxes collected in addition to his bill, they are required to be registered with the National Water Supply and Drainage Board.

Under the new tariff revision, water consumption for domestic purposes will be charged at Rs. 13.50 per cubic meter and the service charge will be Rs. 300/-.

Under the commercial tariff system, water consumption above 500 cubic meters will be charged at Rs. 88/- per cubic meter and the service charge will be Rs. 40000/-.

Under the industrial tariff system, water consumption is charged at Rs. 94.50 cents for a volume of more than 500 cubic meters and the service fee is Rs. 40,000.

Fees will be charged for sewerage services provided for domestic and commercial and large-scale production processes based on water consumption in the respective month using all water sources.

Even if there is zero usage in a particular month, the monthly sewerage service fee will apply to all premises.

In addition to the water supply of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board, if any other alternative water sources are used, the customer must pay an additional fee determined from time to time by the General Manager of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board as the usage fee.

In the event that a consumer has obtained only sewerage services without water supply, the sewerage fee will be set at an estimated value determined after a field inspection conducted by a team of board officers with the participation of the customer.
