COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Former Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga once against hinted about when Ex-President Gotabaya Rajapaksa would return to Sri Lanka.

The Former Ambassador said Rajapaksa was supposed to return on Wednesday (24) or Thursday (25), however, since he revealed the arrival date it caused complications in preparations.

Yet, Weeratunga announced that Gotabaya Rajapaksa would most likely return to Sri Lanka on the 3rd of September.

He said there is no security issue in Sri Lanka for the Former President, however, those around him would drag him back to politics, and feared it could lead to another uprising from the people.

"I don't think the people of this country would accept Gotabaya Rajapaksa again. Because for the past two and half years he ruined the future of our children. I think he is not suitable for politics. He will be a good person to carry out some minor tasks, and that's what he did as Defence Secretary. But that's not enough to rule a country," he said.
