Sri Lanka looking at World Bank for Fertilizer

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Agriculture said that it is working with the World Bank to secure the necessary Urea Fertilizer for the upcoming Maha Cultivation Season.

The Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Mahesh Gammanpila said that steps will be taken with the World Bank to import another stock of 125,000 MT of urea fertilizer.

He further said another 150,000 MT of urea fertilizer is required for Maha Season Cultivation.

Meanwhile, steps are being taken to purchase 40,000 MT of 'Bundi' fertilizer under a loan assistance from the Asian Development Bank.

In addition, farmers can also purchase organic fertilizers from the producers of organic fertilizers in the country.
