NTC to take action against over 100 buses for overcharging passengers

COLOMBO (News 1st); The National Transport Commission (NTC) says that legal action has been taken against more than 100 private buses which charged more than the stipulated fare.

Its Director General, Nilan Miranda mentioned that these buses were identified during raids conducted throughout the country.

He also said that legal action will be taken against the relevant buses for charging more than the stipulated fare, not displaying the price, and for non-issuance of tickets.

Probes into such incidents are still underway.

At the same time, he stated that raids are being carried out by the Provincial Passenger Transport Authority as well.
