Draft 22A to Cabinet this week: Justice Minister

COLOMBO (News 1st); The draft of the 22nd amendment to the Constitution will be submitted to the Cabinet this week, says the Minister of Justice, Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapakshe PC.

The Minister stated that this new draft has been prepared with different amendments than the 22nd Amendment Bill which was previously published via an extraordinary gazette.

The Minister said that the newly prepared amendment has removed the interim provisions added by former President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, such as keeping the power of appointment and removal ministers to the President.
