Airmail to several countries resumes

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Postal Services says it has resumed its process of accepting air mail that was suspended for several countries, due to the economic crisis.

The Postmaster General said the department will once again accept mail bound for Israel, the Netherlands, and the United States of America.

However, the acceptance of goods bound to Russia remains suspended.

The Postmaster General announced that the fee for overseas mail will also be increased from the 1st of August.

Meanwhile, due to the current fuel shortage postal delivery will be further delayed, the Department said.

Post offices will continue to be open from Tuesday to Saturday from 8.30 AM to 4.30 PM.

The Department of Postal Services announced that the sub-post offices will be open from Tuesday to Saturday between 9.00 AM to 3.00 PM.
