Final diesel tanker under Indian LoC in two days

COLOMBO (News 1st); A senior spokesperson of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation states that the final diesel tanker to arrive in Sri Lanka under the Indian credit facility far is scheduled to arrive the day after tomorrow, 16th of June.

The spokesperson said that it is unclear when the next shipment of fuel will reach the country after that.

Meanwhile, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation states that another Indian loan facility is being discussed to obtain fuel.

The senior spokesperson stated that although India had agreed to provide a loan facility to continue to obtain oil, the existing process of providing essentials under the previous loan facility is not yet complete.

Meanwhile, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation stated that the distribution of fuel throughout the island is being carried out subject to certain restrictions. However, the Corporation points out that there is a continuous increase in stocks compared to normal days.

Moreover, the Petroleum Corporation stated that the Government is considering suspending the subsidy for kerosene in the near future.
