5-month old girl dead in a tragic motor accident

COLOMBO (News 1st); A 5-month-old girl died in a tragic motor accident in Mawathagama after a car veered off the road and crashed into an annicut.

According to Police, the vehicle was traveling from Kandy to Randenigala along the Randenigala-Kandy Road, and the driver has lost control of the wheel in Keerthibandarapura.

Police said the accident was the result of reckless and negligent driving on the part of the driver.

The body of the victim was placed at the Adhikarigama Hospital morgue.

Three women, a man, and two boys aged 4 and 2 were injured in the accident and are being treated at the Adhikarigama Hospital.

At the same time, a 68-year-old woman from Hatharaliyadda died at Mawathagama after being knocked down by a bus traveling towards Kurunegala.

The body of the victim is placed at the Mawathagama Hospital morgue.

Recklessness and negligent driving on the part of the private bus driver caused the accident and further investigations are underway.
