USD 42 Mn payment for fuel shipment, delayed

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka is yet to make a US $ 42 Million payment for a fuel ship that has been anchored off the country's coast for the past 5 days.

Secretary to the Ministry of Energy K.D.R. Olga said authorities have NOT yet been able to source US $ 42 mn to pay for fuel.

She said the payment, however, will be met on Friday (18), for the shipment of 22,000 MT of Diesel and 22,000 Jet Fuel.

Meanwhile, the Secretary to the Ministry of Energy stated that at present the daily fuel demand is 9,000 MT but only 7,000 MT is distributed.
