Amber advisory for severe lightning issued

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Meteorology has issued an amber advisory with regard to thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning, as they are likely to occur at several places in Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and Uva provinces and in Kaluthara district.

Moreover, fairly heavy showers above 50 mm can be expected at some places in these areas, while there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

The general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
