Ship with 38,000 MT of Petrol to reach Colombo

COLOMBO (News 1st); A ship carrying 38,400 MT petrol is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka from Singapore on Friday (25).

Secretary to the Ministry of Energy, noted that $33 Million worth of letters of credit were being issued on Friday (25) to secure the release of the ship which is in International Waters.

A senior spokesman for the Ministry of Energy confirmed that despite the increase in the price of Crude Oil in the World Market, it will not affect the local petrol prices.

Two more ships carrying Diesel and Furnace Oil are scheduled to arrive in the country in the next two days.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy stated that a special inquiry will be conducted on Friday (25) at Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminal regarding the shortage of Diesel at Filling Stations on Thursday (25), despite having sufficient stocks of Diesel for 08 dayss.
