Do not stockpile fuel out of fear: Energy Ministry

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Energy has warned public to not to stockpile fuel unnecessarily out of fear. 

The Secretary to the Ministry, K.D.R. Volga stated that two ships carrying petrol and diesel have arrived in Colombo, and the payment of USD 35 million is underway to the ship carrying diesel, with the intervention of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

Accordingly, the Secretary to the Ministry stated that steps have also been taken to expedite the distribution of fuel throughout the island from tomorrow (23), and therefore, the public should not have any undue fears of a fuel shortage.

However, News 1st correspondents have noted that long queues have formed at petrol stations in many parts of the country.
