COLOMBO (News 1st); Masons and Carpenters in Sri Lanka have raised serious concerns over their job security with the spread of COVID-19.
They stated that the main problem they faced during the last six months is that construction sites have ceased to operate following the increase in the price a cement bag to Rs.1375/-.
Furthermore, they stated that a price of a Cement bag has risen to Rs. 2000/- through the black market.
Moreover, they complained that the hardware owners have created an unwarranted crisis where one must get a package of raw material around Rs.50,000/-, when purchasing cement.
