COLOMBO (News 1st); The Additional General Manager and Media Spokesman of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), Andrew Navamani stated that one of the generators at the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant, which was added to the grid on Monday (31), has malfunctioned.

He also stated that 270 MW will be lost to the national grid as a result.

Meanwhile, the Colombo Port floating power plant and one of the power stations at the Sapugaskanda power plant are not generating electricity at present.

The remaining stocks of diesel and fuel will be sufficient for another day and a half, he stated.

Spokesperson Nawamani also mentioned that the demand for electricity has increased by 100 megawatts this week itself.

Therefore, if the required stocks of fuel are not received, the power generation will be an issue again, the CEB Media Spokesperson added.
