COLOMBO (News 1st); The Backbenchers of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna have become concerned over the revelation by SLPP MP Tissa Kuttiarachchi citing that the removal of Susil Premajayantha from his state minister position was the result of state intelligence reports.

Speaking on the matter, SLPP MP Lalith Ellawala stated that the backbenchers of the Government will not bear any responsibility over the statement and it was simply a personal one.

Meanwhile, SLPP MP Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said that no MP or a Minister should be tracked in that manner as they have been trained to do politics in a disciplined manner.

Emphasizing that they also have the freedom to meet and talk to anyone they want, the MP stated that even the Government has released a statement through the Ministers that they do not track Government members, and it should be accepted as the truth.

" I think that MP Tissakuttiarachchi must understand the magnitude of what he said," he added.

However, SJB MP Mujibur Rahman questioned as to how a backbencher of the Parliament was able to obtain information about State Intelligence.

Demanding as to who handed over intelligence reports to the MP, the SJB MP stated that the Chief of the State Intelligence Service must reveal this before the country, and the Defense Secretary must make a statement as to how intelligence reports go to the hands of MPs.

He pointed out that the statement made by MP Tissa Kuttiarachchi is a serious concern in connection with national security.
