President instructs Police to probe milk powder queues

COLOMBO (News 1st); President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had instructed the Senior DIG in-charge of the Western Province to determine as to why people are waiting in long queues to buy products from a local milk powder company.

Accordingly, Police noted that the Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province had held a discussion with the Chairman of the relevant milk powder company on Thursday (30) to determine the cause.

Police said the cause of congestion is due to the delay in releasing milk powder from only one window at the shop located in Mirihana area.

Accordingly, the Chairman of the relevant milk powder company has informed that the number of outlets will be increased and the general public will be granted the opportunity to purchase milk powder without having to stand in queues.

The company has further noted that it will further increase the number of outlets with effect from Friday (31).
