Kumari Ella drowning: One body recovered

COLOMBO (News 1st); Police says that the body of a 16-year-old girl who was reported missing while bathing in the Kumariella in Thunmodara, Hanwella has been recovered.

Police further said that the body was recovered during a search operation carried out last night (30), adding that the remains are currently placed at the Avissawella Hospital.

According to Police, a girl aged 16, a 14-year-old girl and a 29-year-old girl were reported missing after drowning on Thursday (30) afternoon.

The victims were identified as residents of Hendala, Wattala and Jaffna.

Police noted that further operations are underway to locate the others with the assistance of the Army and Hanwella residents.
