Gas & kerosene shortage still unresolved

COLOMBO (News 1st); Consumers say that the gas shortage in the market has not been resolved as of yet while many are still affected by the kerosene shortage as well.

Due to this, there are still long queues in many places to purchase kerosene as an alternative to gas as well.

Many were seen queued near a petrol station in the Orugodawatta area with cans in hand, on Sunday (26).

A person who was on the queues stated that the queue gets longer each day, thanks to the Government and its actions, and another pointed out that there were never this many queues for commodities.

Another stated that they are going through many hardships, with a salary of Rs. 950 and having five children.

Long queues were seen near a petrol station in the Granpass area since this morning due to the increase in the number of people coming to buy kerosene.

One person said that this is the third gas station which they visited, while another stated that the country has fallen into a sad state.

Gas cylinders were not sold in Dematagoda, Obasekarapura, Kolonnawa, Colombo and several suburbs as well.

Speaking to News 1st, a gas dealer said that although gas cylinders were promised, they have not arrived for as long as four or five days, while only 10 to 15 cylinders are sent at a time.
