Payment upon delivery of goods; State Minister comments on Chinese Fertilizer

COLOMBO (News 1st); Qingdao Seawin Biotech Group Co., Ltd, the Chinese organic fertilizer supplier, will provide a fresh batch of fertilizer to Sri Lanka, said Shasheendra Rajapaksa, Sri Lanka's State Minister of Promoting the Production & Regulating the Supply of Organic Fertilizer, and Paddy and Grains, Organic Foods, Vegetables, Fruits, Chilies, Onion and Potato Cultivation Promoting, Seed Production and Advanced Technology Agriculture.

"There was an issue with the fertilizer. Therefore, they (supplier) took it back and will send a new shipment to meet our standards," said the State Minister adding that payment will only be made upon delivery of the goods.

He assured that public funds will NOT go to waste, in settling the payment for the fertilizer shipment.

Earlier, Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said that the Chinese company has agreed to supply the fertilizer as per the required standards once again, subsequent to the payment of USD 6.7 million.
