COLOMBO (News 1st); Public service has become a burden to the country, says Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa. The Finance Minister said this during a media briefing convened by the Ministry of Finance today (13) regarding the 2022 budget presented at the Parliament yesterday (12). Minister Basil Rajapaksa speaking at the press conference today stated that the public service has become a burden to the country and the public must acknowledge this fact. Pointing out that granting funds to public servants in some way means taking it from the common people, the Finance Minister emphasized that by no means can public money be spent on public service for another year.
