COLOMBO (News 1st); The Court of Appeal on Wednesday (10), rejected a writ application filed challenging the Attorney General's Decision to drop the charges against Former Navy Commander and Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda, in the case filed with the Colombo Permanent High Court Trial-at-Bar.

The application was called up in the presence of Justices Sobitha Rajakaruna and Dhammika Ganepola.

The court rejected the application without issuing notice on the respondents noting that the Attorney General can drop the charges in the case filed by the Attorney General himself.

The Attorney General had filed the case at the Colombo Permanent High Court Trial-at-Bar against Karannagoda and 13 other Navy Intelligence personnel in 2020, over the abduction and enforced disappearance of 11 youth from Colombo in 2008 & 2009, using white vans.
