COLOMBO (News 1st); The Government Medical Officers Association says it stepped away from actively engaging with the COVID-19 Task Force.
Dr. Nalinda Herath from the GMOA said the experts on COVID-19 prevention proposed to the government to prioritize the vaccination of the over 60 age group, however, it did not happen.
“The GMOA and the experts presented recommendations, however, what was implemented was the complete opposite,” he said calling for immediate change in this process, stressing that the final say lies with the head of the COVID-19 Task Force.
He said that it has been a while since the GMOA stepped away from these operations and continued to monitor the process on decision implementation.
“Though no one says it in the open, it is clear what is happening,” he said.
