COVID infections and fatalities could rise in coming weeks, warns Army Commander

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Army Commander General Shavendra Silva has warned that based on available data the number of COVID-19 infections and fatalities in the country could spike in the coming two weeks.

General Silva who is also the Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) told News 1st that there is a rise in number reported in recent days.

He urged the general public to act responsibly given the situation present in Sri Lanka.

He added that the government is focused on possibly making it mandatory to possess the vaccination card that can certify that one is fully vaccinated.
