COLOMBO (News1st): Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero has criticized authorities for failing to conduct a six-month training programme for nurses before the Sinhala and Tamil New Year. "Now under these circumstances, they are unable to conduct the six-month-long training program," the Chairman of the United Nurses' Association said. He pointed out that authorities are attempting to take over nursing schools to provide accommodation for COVID-19 infected individuals. "When they do that, how can they conduct training for the Nurses?" Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero noted. He observed that there are only 38,000 nurses in the health care sector, and 761 Intensive Care Unit beds in the country.
