Halt school functions with immediate effect - Ministry of Education

Colombo (News 1st): The Secretary to the Ministry of Education had advised to halt all functions held at schools with immediate effect. This decision has been taken with regard to the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the country. Issuing a press release, the Ministry of Education further stated that the Ministry had received information on various events and functions being held in schools disregarding the current COVID-19 situation in the country. Secretary to the Ministry of Education - Professor Kapila Perera said everyone should be careful and vigilant about the health and safety of all school children and teachers at present. A letter of instruction has been sent by the Secretary to all the Provincial, Zonal and Divisional officials of education to halt all the functions and events held at the school level until further notice.
