COLOMBO (News 1st): Showery weather over most parts of the island is expected to enhance due to the low-level atmospheric disturbance to the south-east of Sri Lanka, the Department of Meteorology said on Monday (Jan. 11).
Showers or thundershowers with very heavy falls exceeding 150 mm could be expected in the Northern, Eastern, North-Central, and Central provinces.
According to the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre at the Department of Meteorology, under the influence of low-level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, sea areas extending from Puttalam to Batticaloa via Kankasanthurei and Trincomalee can be rough or very rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 60-70 kmph at times.
