Mother, daughter killed in accident in Dompe

COLOMBO (News1st): A mother and her daughter have been killed in a motor vehicle crash in Dompe on Tuesday, police said. The victims had been travelling on a motorcycle that had collided with a car travelling in the opposite direction at a high speed. "The car has flipped as he (car driver) couldn't control the speed," a police officer said. Another person was killed in a head-on collision between a lorry and a tipper truck that had been travelling on opposite directions in Dambulla. The victim, 55, is a resident of Kiralawa. The driver of the tipper truck has been arrested by the police. Meanwhile, several police officers have been injured after their vehicle had fallen into a 30-foot precipice in the Badulla - Kandagolla Muthumala area. Two injured officers have been admitted to the Badulla General Hospital, police said.
