COLOMBO (News1st): The Tamil National Alliance (TNA), has said that it would support a constitutional amendment if the problems of the Tamils are resolved.
"If a bill that meets the aspirations of our people is prepared, we will discuss it with the government," TNA spokesman M.A. Sumanthiran said on Tuesday.
"The dissolution of power must take place," he stressed.
Vasudeva Nanayakkara, the candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, said that the Parliament would be appointed as a constitutional council to amend the constitution if his faction does not win a two-thirds majority in Parliament.
He blamed the former government for introducing an electoral system that does not allow a party to win a majority in parliament.
"If an electoral system that makes it difficult to win a two-thirds majority is created, what is the avenue through which the people can exercise their sovereignty?," Nanayakkara queried, during the Pathikada discussion on Sirasa TV.
