Colombo (News 1st);  The Frontline Socialists Party on Friday filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka on the situation which transpired during two protests staged on Tuesday in Colombo.

FSP Propaganda Secretary Pubudu Jayagoda said the protestors followed all necessary health guidelines and accused Sri Lanka Police of violating the quarantine law and assaulting the protestors.

He slammed the Joint Cabinet Spokesperson for saying the President had instructed for all those who stage protests to be quarantined.

The FSP said it is the health authority that would decide if a person or group should be quarantined and it is not something which can be decided by the President, or the Government.

Pubudu Jayagoda warned the Quarantine Law is being used as a tool for suppression.

The FSP said it would resort to all legal avenues available against the use of force on Tuesday's protests.
