Continuous PCR testing at Welisara Naval Complex

Zero COVID-19 cases so far on Monday & 1636 PCR tests carried out on Sunday

Colombo (News 1st);  Zero COVID-19 cases were reported so far today, said Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe, adding 1636 PCR tests were carried out on Sunday. Speaking at the National Operations Centre for Preventing COVID-19, Dr. Jasinghe said only 13 people tested positive for the virus on Sunday. He stressed PCR tests are conducted at all times within the Welisara Naval Complex adding a majority of the sailors from the Sri Lanka Navy were exposed to the virus at the Naval Complex. The Director-General of Health Services went on say, therefore the possibility of the virus transmitting to others from the sailors is very low. He went on to note, as around 60 sailors who contracted the virus had also gone home, PCR tests are being conducted at their respective home towns as well. In addition, PRC tests are conducted on target groups in the Colombo District as well.
