More than 4500 undergoing quarantine at 35 military operated facilities

Colombo (News 1st); 208 Sri Lankan students who arrived in the island today from the UK were moved to Sri Lanka Army operated quarantine facilities. Acting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said another group of Sri Lankan students and Public Servants are to reach the island tomorrow morning and they too would be transported to Sri Lanka Army operated quarantine facilities upon arrival. 129 people from Beruwala who were moved to quarantine were released from quarantine facilities today following PCR tests. The Army Commander went on to note 5052 people completed the mandatory quarantine period at military-operated facilities. In addition, 1030 family members of gallant sailors from the Sri Lanka Navy are currently undergoing quarantine at facilities operated by the three-armed forces. In total 4522 people are undergoing quarantine at 35 facilities operated by the three-armed forces. Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said in total 296 sailors from the Sri Lanka Navy had contracted the virus and a majority of them are from the Welisara Naval Complex.
