Remains of Sri Lankan students to be repatriated

Colombo (News 1st) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the post mortem examinations into the remains of the three female Sri Lankan students who died in a fire that broke out at an apartment complex in Azerbaijan has been completed. The Minister of Higher Education, Bandula Gunawardane said, their bodies will be brought to Sri Lanka on Wednesday. He further said, around 15,000 students are traveling abroad for their higher studies and further discussions will be held on granting all students an insurance. The students aged 21, 23 and 25 were studying at the Western Caspian University in Baku. It is reported the cause of the fire was an electrical fault in the apartment. Minister of Higher education, Bandula Gunawardane further said, the only way of to keep students back at home is to create more opportunities for those who pass Advanced Levels.
