Disappointed farmers expect compensation after heavy rains in December

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The farming communities have been facing a number of difficulties on a daily basis recently. Heavy downpours experienced in the recent past destroyed many cultivations in Galenbindunuwewa. Nearly 5,000 acres of cultivation in Udakallagama and Konwewa areas in Galenbindunuwewa have been destroyed. Local farmers stated that they expect a handsome compensation for their losses and added that they were not adequately compensated for Sena caterpillar attacks and elephant invasions before.
