Detainee shot when attempting to escape

Colombo (News 1st): The detainee who was shot when attempting to escape the Magazine prison has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the Colombo National Hospital. The detainee had attempted to escape the Magazine prison yesterday (December 24). Prison officials said that the detainee was shot to prevent him from escaping. While the detainee and a prison official were injured in the incident, they are both currently receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital. The injured detainee had been remanded following an order by the Mt. Lavinia Magistrate with regard to a theft case. He is a 20-year-old resident of Attidiya.
